Business management software for retail and small shops

Colony gives a small shop a catalogue, invoices and receipts, loyalty cards, vouchers, and a simple storefront, all tied to the customer record.

The problem

Sales sit in a till, regulars in a notebook, vouchers on paper, and the mailing list in a separate tool. You cannot easily tell who your best customers are, or reward them.

How Colony helps

  • Catalogue

A list of the products and services you sell, used by quotes and invoices.

  • Invoices and receipts

Real invoice numbering, part payments, credit notes, printable receipts and pay by link.

  • Loyalty and vouchers

Stamp cards, points and vouchers, with a counter screen that can scan a code.

  • Messages with consent

Email, WhatsApp and SMS with consent records and STOP handling, plus a newsletter.

  • Your own storefront (beta)

Habitat builds a storefront from your catalogue, with a contact form that lands in your pipeline. It is in beta.

  • Reports

See sales by day to year, and which customers come back.

See the full list on the features page.

What it looks like in practice

A realistic week for a small gift shop:

  1. Set up. The owner adds the catalogue and a stamp card that rewards every tenth purchase.
  2. In the shop. Each sale is recorded against the customer and the card is stamped. A gift voucher is redeemed by scanning its code.
  3. Online. The storefront, built from the catalogue, takes enquiries that land in the pipeline.
  4. Weekend. A newsletter goes to customers who agreed to hear from the shop, and a report shows the week's sales.

Questions

Is Colony a point-of-sale system?

No. Colony records sales as invoices and receipts tied to customers. It is not a till or a stock-control system.

Can I run loyalty cards and vouchers?

Yes. Stamp cards, points and vouchers are built in. Adding loyalty cards to a phone wallet is not live yet.

Can I have an online shop?

Habitat builds a storefront from your catalogue. It is in beta, and it takes enquiries and bookings rather than acting as a full online checkout.

Can I email my customers?

Yes, with a newsletter and email composer. Marketing needs consent, and every unsubscribe is honoured.

Does it work for shops outside the US?

Yes. Tax and currency follow your company's country. Colony is open to businesses in any country.
